Welcome !  If you are planning to visit the Sword, there may be a few things that you'd like to know prior to arriving.  We're here to help make your experience with us an joyable one.

We would be so happy to have the pleasure of your company in our services.  We trust that you will be edified by the Word of God and that the Holy Spirit will minister richly to you in a way that is meaningful to you personally.  Please feel free to attend any and all of our services whenever you are able.  If you are seeking a church home, be prayerful and obey the Lord.  We will be glad to receive you if He directs you to join our fellowship.

Also, please be advised that the Sword maintains a dress code for all services.  Ladies are asked to wear skirts or dresses to the services.

At anytime during your visit, if you have questions please feel free to ask a member of our Usher Team who is easily identifiable by their Usher Badges.

Visiting Sword

1.  Where are you located and what time should I arrive?

Our Sunday Services begin at 11:30am at 6637-43 South King Drive Avenue, Chicago, Illinois 60637. ( Map it! ).   If you will be joining us for Sunday School of the Bible on Sundays, all classes begin at 9:30am.  Our mid-week Wednesday Service begins with intercessory prayer at 7:00pm followed by service at 8:00pm.

2.  Is parking available?

Yes.  We have three parking lots available for all of our services and it's free!  The parking lot near the church building on King Drive is the first to fill-up. Two additional parking lots on South Chicago Avenue and 67th Street are also available.  We ask that both members and guest use the parking lots available.  Also, during the winter snow months this is especially the case due to no parking in Snow Zones.

3.  What should I do after I arrive ?

On Sundays, you will be welcomed by our Greeter Usher team (those wearing the Usher Badges).  They will greet you with a warm smile and ask if you would like to sign our Visitor's Guest book.  Next, they will provide you with a Sunday Bulletin which outlines our announcements and walk with you to a seat within the sanctuary.  During service, our Service Ushers will provide you with a Bible (if needed).  Have a question?  Ask any member of the Usher team. We're here to make you experience with us a blessing.

On Wednesdays, you will be greeted by a member of our Ministry staff and escorted to a seat in the sanctuary for intercessory prayer followed by Bible study.

4.  What is the Sunday Worship service like?

Now that you've found a seat, let's talk about the experience that you will have during our worship service to the Lord.  The Lord Jesus is our primary focus.  Each of our Sunday Services begins with morning congregational prayer followed by spirit-filled praise and worship by our Spirit of Praise team, fulfilling Biblical teaching, altar call for ministry to those in need (i.e. prayer for sick), altar call for salvation, tithes & offering giving, and announcements.  On first Sundays, we conduct the Communion Service in remembrance of Jesus' death, burial and resurrection.  Come, join our time of fellowship and thanksgiving to the Lord !

5.  I'm interested in joining the Sword, what are the next steps?

Wonderful !  We welcome new members and we are glad that you would like to be a part of our congregation.  To join us, you may respond to the invitation given at the end of our services or contact a member of the Ministry Staff.

Hopefully, this has provided you with some general information on visiting with us.  If you require further details, please feel free to contact any member of our Ministry Staff or Contact Us
